Friday Activity 3.29.13

Denver Nuggets vs. Brooklyn Nets

Last Friday we had an amazing time going to a professional basketball game. Even though our seats were in the nose bleed section, we still enjoyed ourselves. We had a great group of students that came. What made the night even better was that the Nuggets won. Actually they didn't just win they crushed the Nets.

Here is some vocabulary from the game:
1. Free throw
2. Defense
3. Foul
4. Three pointer
5. Mascot
There he is, Rocky, the mascot!

Make a comment and define the vocabulary words! Also if you have a story from the game, make a comment.

* nose bleed section: the seats high up in the stadium, you are so high up that you might get a nose bleed
*crushed: won by many points

  1. No one wants to take a stab at the vocabulary?

Well in that case....if you are curious....

    1. Free throw: When a team gets fouled, they go to the line and get to shoot two times with out anyone blocking them. It's two free shots!

    2. Defense: The team that is trying to make it so the other team doesn't score.

    3. Foul: When you do something bad to the other team. For example, you can't hit a player's arm while they are shooting. That is a foul.

    4. Three pointer: When you shoot a ball from behind the big arch around the basket. It counts for 3 points!

    5. Mascot: Every team has a mascot. Rocky is the mascot for the Denver Nuggets. I will post a picture of him next to the word.
