Fun Facts about Denver

Denver is an exciting city with many fun facts.

Did you know that the city is a mile or 1.6 kilometers high. There are a few markers around the city that show the exact spot. One spot is on the capitol building. In the dome, there is a brass cap that marks the exact spot.

Also if you go to a professional baseball game, there is a row of seats that is exactly a mile high. All of the seats are purple.

Speaking of professional sports, Denver is only one of two cities in the U.S. that has 8 professional sports teams:

Broncos (football),

Rockies (baseball),

Nuggets (basketball),

Avalanche (hockey),

Outlaws (lacrosse),

 Rapids (Soccer),

 Crush (arena football),

and the Barbarians (Rugby).

Not only is Denver fascinating now, but it also has an interesting history. Denver was built here because they found gold.

The first permanent structure that was built was a saloon. A saloon is an old western style bar.

Also the city was destroyed two times when it was first built. One time was because of a fire, the other a flood.
